After having made some lamps around chainsaw and motorbike pistons, the idea came to me that this strimmer cylinder could be upcycled in a similar way by boring out the head part to conceal a lampholder inside so just the illuminated part of the bulb is visible.

Something industrial and quirky to illuminate your home, an unusual and decorative table lamp with a squirrel cage LED bulb, based around an engine cylinder removed from an old 2-stroke petrol strimmer. The cylinder, taken from a strimmer engine by a well-known and respected German manufacturer, has been bored out on my lathe to conceal an SES lampholder inside so that just the glass of the SES candle bulb shows. I then polished the cylinder fin edges up to an attractive shine before mounting it firmly onto a reclaimed wood base which has been sanded, stained and treated with French polish to give it a fine finish. Power is supplied through two metres (over 6 feet) of antique gold fabric braided flex fitted with a black inline switch and black 3-amp fused UK plug. As always from Steampunk Creative Engineering, all electrical components are brand new and the unit is safety tested and certified as UKCA compliant.
