These ceramic head, wall pots have been inspired from a recurring theme running throughout my work, conveying a sense of the often fragile balance between humankind, nature and an interest in Folklore and Mythology, often connected to the rythmn of the seasons and the time of year.
Leaving the natural edge of the clay, suggests the beauty of the repeated lines, shapes and textures to be found in the nature. Layers of glazes and coloured stains further suggest the the natural shapes and textures to be found in nature.
This piece has a suggestion of Summer, incorporating casts of plants that flower in the warmer months, other shapes and textures reminicent of pollen, seeds and new growth.
This wall pot stands alone as a piece of nature inspired wall art, that can incorporate real plants to be used outdoors, or as a vase for flowers and seed heads, bringing a bit of the outdoors, indoors.

Full description
This ceramic, wall pot has been made from stoneware clay, using various handbuilding clay techniques such as press moulding, hand modelling, using handmade clay moulds of plants and wood fragments etc.
After carefull drying, these wall pots have a first firing in the kiln allowing the art work to be glazed without fear of breaking the piece.
Stoneware glazes, oxides and coloured stains are then layerd onto the wall pots, creating colour and texture when melting and fusing with the form during a second high temperature firing, making the piece frost proof, so safe for outdoor use.
This completed art work is approx 21.5 cm at highest point, approx 18 cm at it's widest point and approx 7 cm in depth, measuring from the tip of the nose.
Can be hung by screwing straight into a wall or fence through the two hanging holes cut specially into the top, or hung by looping garden wire between the same two holes.
The planting pocket is suitable for small alpines which dont need much soil, or an arrangement of dried flowers etc if used indoors.
