When this painting was created I was spending a lot of time painting outside in the Howgills and on this particular evening I had found a good spot on the side of Winder Fell above Sedbergh, settled down in the bracken and set to work quickly before the light began to fade.
The shifting colours and clouds across the valley interested me and I enjoyed trying to capture the feeling of being there on the fellside.
