This is a unique slab made earthenware dish with a diameter of ca 210mm/8.25" and a height of ca 25mm/1". The pattern was made using a lace mat. Both the green and light brown flecked glazes are matt rather than gloss and this finish adds a sense of a greater depth to the dish.

A dish such as this will take at least 4-5 hours with all the various stages: preparation of the clay; rolling of the slab; creating the shape; impressing the lace pattern; bisque firing; glazing; and second firing. In addition to the costs of labour there are other overheads including the more obvious of clay, the glazes and the two kiln firings.
