I have been working as a ceramicist for over 25 years. All my work is handmade in the sense that I do not use a wheel, preferring to make pieces using coils, slabs, slipcasting, and extruded forms. Each piece of ceramics is unique usually in both form and in respect of the glazes that I use (the exception being with slipcast tiles where the shapes are consistent, but the glazes are all different). Many glazes I use are homemade earthenware recipes. Most pieces have been fired to earthenware and are therefore not intended to be placed outside as they will not be frost resistant. Work fired to stoneware and therefore suitable for display outside and inside is detailed in the description, where appropriate. I use a range of clays depending on the nature of the work. Some work comprises a blend and use of up to four different clays. I have a particular interest in fusing glass to clay. With the exception of things like vases and coaster my ceramics is not intended to be functional but simply for display.
