This vintage inspection lamp was begging to be made useful again, a refurbishment with a modern, economical LED bulb and the addition of a wall bracket for it to hang from have transformed it into a plug-in wall sconce - character lighting for your room.

An industrial style wall sconce made around a vintage Briticent ‘Gripper’ caged inspection lamp originally made in England in the late ‘50s. I have made a wall bracket from a short length of 20mm galvanised conduit and some reclaimed wood to repurpose the inspection lamp as a stylish industrial wall sconce. It has its original ceramic lampholder in the original green Bakelite mounting, cleaned, inspected and damage free. I have rewired it with brand new, period look, black braided 3 core flex, fitted with a black inline switch for convenience and a black 3A fused plug. The galvanised metalwork of the sprung gripping handle and the protective cage have been cleaned but not restored to preserve the patina and industrial look. Similarly, the removable internal reflector/shield has just been cleaned and waxed, there is still patina present. This lamp will add an industrial flavour to almost any room.
