This piece was inspired by my preoccupation with the the plight of rainforests that are destroyed for the production of Palm Oil, so that the West has a cheap source of oil for its food, and beauty products.

Full description
“ Deforestation- The True Cost of Palm Oil” is an embroidery that I created with linen yarn, wool, cotton, sari silks, mixed yarns and a green fruit net, all on a background of up-cycled fabric. It has been hand embroidered and random crocheted in shades of yellow, orange, copper and ecru, contrasting with various shades of green. Its textures vary from the hairy quality of the wool fibres to the sheens of the silks and glitter of gold threads. It has been glued and stitched onto a wooden base and framed with a black box frame measuring 25.5cm square and 4cm deep.
It will be well wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and boxed and sent by Royal Mail .
I reuse packaging to reduce waste.
