Full description
This unique work of textile art incorporates, free machine embroidery, hand embroidery, sculpture and felting. It is made on a base of chicken wire which has been covered in hessian onto which I have stitched strips of dyed silk, cotton fabric and organza to depict the areas of cut down rainforests, scarring the landscape. I have used colourful silks and silk carrier rods which I have dyed with red bush tea, to represent the variety of trees in the rainforests. I have wet felted green merino wool and used circles of organza to depict the uniformity of palm oil plantations which have led to the destruction of miles of unique and irreplaceable rainforests. The wording was free machine embroidered. The backing is also hessian and covers the chicken wire which gives the piece it's 3D quality. It hangs with a wire that has been stitched onto the hessian and measures approximately 44cm long by 25cm at it's widest point.
It will be well wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and boxed, and sent by Royal Mail, Special Delivery. I reuse packaging to reduce waste.
