The idea to make a lamp from an old piston has been rattling around in my head for a while, to make it unique and different from anybody else’s I put the bulb holder inside the piston!

Full description
Something compact and subtle to set the mood in your home, a table lamp based on a piston taken from a chainsaw engine, fitted with a flickering flame effect LED bulb. The piston, an aftermarket high compression replacement for a 57cc, 357 model, general duty chainsaw made by a well-known and respected Swedish manufacturer, has been bored out on my lathe to accommodate an insulated SES lampholder inside with just the glass of the flame effect bulb showing. I then polished it up to a nice shine before mounting the assembly on a round wooden base made from salvaged floorboard which has been sanded, stained and treated with French polish to give it a lovely finish. Power is supplied through 2 metres of antique gold fabric braided flex fitted with a black inline switch and black 3-amp fused UK plug. As always from Steampunk Creative Engineering, all electrical components are brand new and the unit is safety tested and certified UKCA compliant.
