This mid-century design classic was crying out to be modified to be useful and safe again in the modern world, it will now provide colourful funky mood lighting in any room.

Full description
A 1960s Pifco ultra-violet sun lamp in excellent original condition, with a very few age-related marks, upcycled into a stunning, remote controlled, colour changing, table or floor lamp. The square, boxy mid-century design steel case is still in its original bright colours!
I have removed the original 300-watt ultra-violet lightbulb (we all know how unsafe UV rays are now considered to be!) and substituted a new ES (E27) remote controlled, colour changing 9-Watt LED bulb. The original ceramic lampholder was cleaned, examined, tested and found to be good enough to reuse safely. I have replaced the flex and plug (as they would not come up to modern standards for the electrical safety test) with new and given the lamp a thorough clean and check for safety, especially the safety earthing for the painted steel shell.
The remote can be used to set a steady colour (choice of 16 including warm white) or to cycle between colours in 4 modes and can dim the lamp besides switching on and off.
