Full description
A real feature piece for your home, vintage 20s or 30s cast iron Salter number 46 household scales re-engineered as a stylish clock and table lamp combination. I have removed the (broken) weighing mechanism and replaced it with a new battery-operated quartz ‘sweep’ clock mechanism (virtually silent – no ticking) using the original scale’s dial – complete with wear and patina. The cast iron frame and pressed steel covers have been derusted and painted dark green with a quality metal paint and adapted to hold a short length of polished copper pipe with a brass switched safety BC lampholder, which automatically switches power off when the bulb is removed. This lamp has been designed for use with a lampshade which, as that is a matter of personal taste, is not supplied with the lamp. Over 2 metres of gold coloured, period look, twisted braided 3 core flex and black plug complete the lamp.
