Full description
A striking table lamp, made from upcycled copper water pipe, which combines contemporary, industrial and steampunk styles. The light reflects from the polished copper beautifully. I have inserted 3 tee pieces into an 80cm diameter hoop made from 22mm copper water pipe, made a diagonal from 15mm water pipe which holds two new brass ES lampholders with 5W LED spiral filament globe bulbs. The hoop is secured to a pine base made from offcut floor joist which I have stained, sanded and French polished to give a nice sheen and which has an integrated toggle on/off switch.
All joints in the copper pipework are soldered in the traditional way (no cheating with glue here at SCE!) so there may be some surplus solder around the joints and as the hoop part is previously owned it comes with one or two small dents from its previous life. The brass bushes which adapt the lampholders and base to the pipework are my own design, turned on my lathe with threads to accept the electrical hardware.
