This autumn has been a good year for mushrooms and I was inspired to try and capture some of the interesting shapes within my carving. I think my mushrooms have their own quirky character!

Full description
A hand carved wooden mushroom, measuring approximately 10.5cm in height and 6cm at the widest part of the base.
The mushroom is carved from a piece of plum wood with beautifully rich colours and an interesting wood grain. As I carved this piece I tried to feature this colouring in the stalk of the mushroom to highlight this part of the wood.
The mushroom has been coated with bicarbonate of soda, which brings out the natural colouring of the wood. Parts of the mushroom have then been coated with ebonising fluid, made from white wine vinegar and wire wool, which darkens the natural tannins in the wood. It has then been finished with a coating of mineral oil and beeswax to treat the wood.
Once purchased, the item will be beautifully wrapped and sent to you in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging, which is fully recyclable. A free gift note, which you can write your own message on, can also be added, making this an ideal gift to give to someone special.
