As with all my work, I draw inspiration from nature. With this piece I drew the flower designs directly on to the wood, which is a process I hadn't tried on a spoon before and it was a challenge to work this way. In the design I wanted the flower stems to circle the handle, to give the impression the flowers had grown around the spoon. I'm pleased with the result and would love to try more carvings in this style.

Full description
A beautiful hand carved cherry wood art spoon, featuring three relief carved flowers on the handle. The spoon measures approximately 29 cm in length and the bowl is 5 cm wide. The spoon has been treated with linseed oil to cure the wood, then burnished with a smooth pebble to create the finish.
This one of a kind, hand carved spoon is an eye-catching, statement piece. It is a practical spoon, so could be used for eating or serving food. Alternatively, it could be displayed as a piece of wooden sculpture. Every spoon I carve is a one-off piece, because it is handmade, however my art spoons are particularly special. I spend many hours creating them, from initial design sketches through to the finished intricate carving of an individual piece. This piece took approximately 15 hours. It really was a labour of love!
Once purchased, the spoon will be sent to you in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging, which is fully recyclable. You will also receive information about how to care for your spoon.
