The 3 phase starter contacts removed from my lathe when I converted it to single phase. It had such a gothic -steampunk vibe to it that I had to make something with it - the striking table lamp you see here!

Full description
A unique Steampunk themed table lamp. The base is made from the original 1955 3 phase electrical starter contactor and overload cut-out from my lathe, redundant after I converted the lathe to single phase power. I thought the contactor had a real steampunk/gothic/Frankenstein feel, so I just had to make something along those lines with it.
A length of reclaimed copper water pipe, a couple of adaptors turned on the lathe the contactor came from was mounted to the Bakelite base plate with a brass ES fitting lampholder on top. I added some brass cupboard door knobs for feet, new live electrical parts and the result is the quirky and unique table lamp you see in the photos, looking straight out of a mad scientist’s lab! The bulb fitted is an economical blue LED decorative item which I think suits the feel of the lamp very well and is included in the price.
