This church is on our road, I walk past it most days when I walk the dog and have seen it in many different lights and weathers over the years. This is the second linocut that I have made of it (the monochrome view of the Lych Gate and porch is also listed in my shop), and I hope to make a winter version of it too. It has been a welcome adventure back into colour mixing having spent the majority of my time lately using unmixed process colours for my bottle oven linocuts!

This is one of a limited edition of 11 handprinted linocuts of St Bartholomew’s Church in Blurton, Stoke-in-Trent. It is a four-stage reduction, meaning that it is made using a single piece of lino, being carved out a little more for each successive colour. No more prints can be taken as the lino is almost destroyed by the end of the process. The area of the print is approx 20cm x 13cm, the paper is approx 28cm x 20cm. It is printed with Caligo Safewash relief inks on Japanese Ho-Sho paper.
Designed by Mary Parker in Stoke-on-Trent
