Agate is a form of Chalcedony, part of the Quartz family, and gets its name from the River Achates, in Sicily, where it was first found.
It is one of the oldest known minerals, used by the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians for ornaments and amulets.
I love the patterns and subtle hues to these beads.
Each one has a different colouration and design, making these earrings truly unique.
Agate is the ancient birthstone for June and Gemini, whilst pearl is the traditional/modern birthstone.
