PLEASE NOTE
I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.
I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
Full description
Created from ceramic wall plate discovered August 2020
Re-Created into Pendant November 2021
In August 2020 I found a small decorative wall plate which was damaged and destined for recycling. I love collecting and immediately saw how attractive the pattern appeared with intricate swirls and flowers. The plate was chipped and cracked badly but realised the detailed pattern would be perfect for creating shards for any project but particularly small pieces of jewellery.
I gently clipped the plate with a small tile cutter, the ceramic broke into tiny pieces, almost shattering but a few larger shapes formed. This necklace is made from a particularly lovely shard, perfect for a pendant and shows part of the flower pattern.
The sides are sanded and sealed, the colours have chipped during process which reflects that this pendant was once a wall plate full of history.
The idea is to create something new from old. The finished item isn't meant to be perfect or highly polish but instead retain some of its original character, including chips and scratches.
Pendant approximately 40mm x 19mm x 3mm
Hanging on non leather cord, 44cm plus 5cm extender.
Delivered in recycled packaging and includes gift box and short bio.
