I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes. Found by chance.

Additional terms
Hand crafted gifts using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final piece, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each item comes with a short bio of where the ceramic came from, date found and re-created. Some shards collected are used as found, others are cut randomly which shape the final work. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

While walking beside The River Tees I found a lovely piece of plate edge. I’ve never come across this design before but discovered this pattern is called Milan, Bates Brown Westhead More & Co Established 1862.
After a thorough clean I managed to drill holes and start work. I never plan, just leave it to chance to see what comes from the ceramic. The way the shard broke suggested earrings, there’s a very slight curve at the bottom of the ceramic which adds to the overall unique design.
Front glaze in tact, rear glaze has small scratches, to strengthen the holes I removed the glaze around them on the back . Sealed with eco friendly matte sealant.
The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect or highly polished. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original shard and it’s journey. Earrings are similar in shape but not exact.
Unique, one of a kind pendant full of history.
Each earrings measures approximately 18mm x 9mm x 3mm (widest).
Sterling Silver hooks.
Delivered in gift box made with recycled materials, includes brown gift bag and comes with short bio.
