Sometimes the clay just goes off on its own in a direction and out pops these little figures!
I create a lot of flat pieces of work and paint on them so it is a lovely change to actually sculpt a little animal, which are all done intuitively without any reference whilst working. I prefer the character of the piece to just evolve rather than copy from a photograph. I had created the Hare along with some other pieces ( in the last image shown) a while back but left it unfinished until inspiration came to as how to decorate. I was happily taken by surprise when a little star appeared and felt this was just enough.

Small intuitively sculptured Hare in earthenware clay
stands approx 3" high and glazed to a durable finish.

of all four of the creatures I sculptured and for display purposes only.
