These little stars are made by heating silver wire on the brass star shapes until it melts slightly and fuses to the surface. Because I'm not using solder and flux the copper in the brass seems to come to the surface so they look like copper, they are actually brass. They don't react to reheating the same way that actual copper does so you tend not to get as many colours appearing.
