I have been involved in bat walks for the last 8 or 9 years so I wanted to make something for international bat night. I had this slightly damaged and odd silver clay pendant that I didn't know what to do with, it reminded me of a slightly ragged moon so it seemed obvious to attach a bat to it.

Full description
A baroque pendant in pure silver with sterling silver applied. I'm upcycling a silver clay piece that broke after firing. I've kept it until the right inspiration arrived. It is a roughly circular pendant with a hanging loop on the reverse, it was cast from a mould made from a celtic pattern on a brass rubbing plate. After it broke I tried to solder it together, which melted the patterns on the surface a bit.
I cut a small bat shape from sheet sterling silver and soldered it to the circular pendant. Liver of sulphur is applied to the bat shape to oxidise it which turns it black. The pendant is then hung from a torc made from sterling silver wire. The torc is fastened with a simple hook fastening. The pendant measures a little over 25mm high and 25mm wide and the wire torc is approximately 450mm so the pendant sits on or just below the collar bone.
