Inspiration for these wall pieces comes from a common thread running through my work, exploring the fragile balance between man and nature.
The shapes, lines and textures that I mould with my fingers are related to the many patterns to be found repeated throughout nature and the changing seasons.

Initially the face is press moulded from a clay cast made previously.
Various pieces are then added or taken away depending on the theme, by way of hand rolled coils, balls, cutting and shaping, depicting anything from, roots, tendrils, leaves or lichen.
After drying, the art work is placed in the kiln for a first firing, afterwards being painted with layers of under glazes, oxides and stoneware glazes, before going back in the kiln for a glaze firing.
This wall piece has been fired to a high frost proof temperature making it suitable for for outdoors, but equally at home indoors.
The built in hanging mechanism means it can be hung immediately onto a wall or fence.
This art work measures 18 cm in height, width approx 14 cm at widest point and 6 cm at the deepest point.
