This recent series of art work for Walls, has been iiinspired by the repeated patterns in all aspects of nature and plants which I observe throughout the year.
Colours, textures and light qaulity, provide endless inspiration as the seasons change and evolve.
Observing the plants, nature and animal life in my imediate enviroment, I aim to evoke with my clay work, the feeling that we are all linked.
Particulary interested in the day to day plants such as Ground Elder, Hog weed and Dandelions etc, considered to be 'weeds' that we might overlook.
This piece of Ground Elder Wall Art, with its rich terracotta, earthy tones, comes ready to hang, bringing nature into your home.

Full description
This ceramic Wall Art, has been created,by carefully pressing an individual stem of the plant, Ground Elder into a hand rolled slab of wet teracotta clay.
A layer of liquid white clay is then sponged and stippled over the plant material and clay, before being slowly removed from the delicate surface to reveal the detailed pattern of the Ground Elder.
When the whole piece becomes leather hard, the plant impression is cut into a square with some strips of clay attached to the reverse, giving the whole Art Work a floating appearace when mounted onto the painted wooden frame backing much later.
After an initial kiln firing, the piece will be painted with thin coats of iron and manganese oxide stains, both of which are naturally ocurring in nature, to highlight the individual lines and texture unique to that plant,
The completed Wall Art is then mounted onto a painted wooden frame, fitted with a hanging mechanism on the reverse, so instantly ready to hang.
Measuring, 30cm by 30cm, overall, with the ceramic element sitting proud from the frame by 2cm and approx 14.5 cm square.
