Here is another of the wonderful samplers I bought from a York table top sale in the spring. This little illustration is so beautifully worked, and has a dash of humour to it.

This little make up or storage bag, is made from a beautifully worked vintage cross stitch sampler. It features a sweet, but kitsch, design of two children sheltering from the wind and rain underneath a brolly, and looks very like the Hummel plates from the 1970’s. It may well be a sampler designed by them. This would make a great present for a lover of vintage fabrics, perhaps for someone learning to embroider, or maybe even as a congratulations gift for new parents of twins. (I have twins, and I would have liked this!)
This little bag is worked in Aida fabric, which is made with tiny holes in to help create perfect, even cross stitch. It has been backed with cotton to strengthen it, but it is still a soft little bag.
It measures 21 cm across and 23 cm down, and closes with a maroon 21 cm zip. The back is made from recycled blue denim to give it some edge.
There is a finger hook so you can hang it up as a little piece of artwork in its own right, or just twirl it around your finger.
The lining is a maroon striped cotton, and the bag is finished with my own embroidered name tag.
I like to reuse if I can. Your bag will be posted out using clean, recycled paper from my hoard, and sent as Royal Mail 2nd class.
