Mono is a collection of simple forms decorated with white on matt black clay, giving a kind of frosted effect. I loved the challenge of limiting myself to one colour only, and echoed the simplicity with linear motifs incised into the white vertical bands. Interiors are glazed with iron lustre glazes which fire to muted shades. Each piece is different, so each has a name! The designs are influenced by the 1930s fabrics of Edinburgh Weavers, a leading modernist textile company of the time.

Full description
Giselle is a small vase with monochrome decoration and iron lustre glazed interior ( it's the vase on the left with the flowers). Three white panels feature decorative motifs of curved lines and emerging seedling shapes, set off by stripes. I created the motifs by hand-incised sgraffito decoration, cutting through to the black clay beneath. You can see the different panels and patterning in the images. Giselle is 14.5cms tall, and will suit any room scheme, urban or country style, looking good with flowers or as part of a group display with others from my Mono Collection as shown in two of the images. On the base is my maker’s mark of a swallow in flight.
