This is a carefully worked tiny section of embroidery, stitched by nimble fingers, probably dating back as far as the 1920’s or 30’s.It has a period charm, and is very nostalgic.
This tiny embroidered corner makes a perfect lavender bag, whilst vintage table linens with their pierced embroidery, are perfect for allowing the scent to escape.

This pretty lavender bag is made with a section of vintage embroidered table linen, and is filled with dried lavender from The Yorkshire Lavender Farm near York. On the front is an embroidery of tiny flowers on long stalks bending with the wind.I have made the back from a
faded piece of cut back embroidery from a vintage tray cloth, so the scent can escape freely.
Lovely lavender has been used to promote healthy sleep, keep wardrobes smelling fresh, and prevent annoying moths for centuries.This pretty vintage embroidery design could be stored in a drawer with a bride’s dress. It would also make a sweet housewarming present, or as a gift for an embroiderer.
This little bag measures 8 cm by 8 cm
Inside is nestling a tiny muslin pillow filled with English lavender from North Yorkshire.
The front is made from an old embroidered linen with a scatter of buttons, and the back from embroidered cotton with a pierced design.
There is a practical hook for popping onto a clothes hanger or hanging up in a bedroom, to keep the air sweet.
The front and back are made from different pieces of vintage embroidery, and the bag is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
I like to reuse as much as possible. Your little bag will be posted out to you wrapped in clean, recycled packaging from my hoard of papers and sent by Royal Mail 2nd class.
