A Customer requested I paint in watercolour her Maine Coon Cat. I ask for several images from the customer sent via email and choose one I feel is the best to work from showing as much of the face as possible. The background can be any colour, but this was chosen by the customer to remain green as her cat had been sitting on the grass outside when she took the original photograph. She decided she didn't want actual grass painted just a representation of the green for the background. I work closely with the customer to make sure that the image is one they are happy with and if they wish to have the background a particular colour. The whiskers and ear hairs are enhanced with gouache paint which makes them seem a 3D effect.
