I remember buying this tiny cloth from a charity Summer sale in York. It is such a carefully worked section of embroidery, stitched by nimble fingers and probably dating back as far as the 1920’s or 30’s.It is very nostalgic and has a period charm.
The tiny embroidered corner makes a pretty little lavender bag, whilst old pieces of thread work on the back are perfect for allowing the scent to escape in a perfumed haze.

Full description
This pretty lavender bag is made from the corner of a lovely piece of vintage embroidered table linen. It is filled with dried lavender from The World of Lavender Farm in Terrington, near York. On the front are a little group of embroidered cottage garden flowers, stretching up to the sun. I have made the back from a fragment of vintage pulled thread work, as it is a lovely way to allow the scent to escape freely.
Since times gone by, the lovely lavender has been used to help healthy sleep, make wardrobes smell fresh, and keep away hungry moths.This pretty vintage embroidery design could be stored in a drawer with a trousseau or ball gown. It would also make a miniature housewarming present, or as a gift for an embroiderer or vintage fabric lover.
This little bag measures 8 cm by 8 cm
Inside is nestling a tiny muslin pillow filled with English lavender from North Yorkshire.
The front is made from embroidered linen and the back from pulled thread cotton.
There is a practical hook for popping onto a clothes hanger or hanging up in a bedroom to keep the air sweet.
The bag is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
I like to reuse as much as possible. Your little bag will be posted out to you wrapped in clean, recycled packaging.
It will be posted by Royal Mail 2nd class with proof of posting, which takes up to 3 days.
