Connecting you to the land and history from where it came, the scoria shard featured in this unique, upcycled sterling silver ring was found in the Ironbridge Gorge in Shropshire.
What is Scoria?? Scoria is an industrial by-product of blast furnaces. It is the glass-like by-product left over after a desired metal, such as iron, has been smelted from its raw ore. Scoria is usually a mixture of metal oxides and silicon dioxide and can contain metal sulphides and elemental metals. Whilst it cannot be certain if this shard of Scoria came from the construction of the actual Ironbridge, the colours of the Scoria indicate it as iron-based.
During the Victorian era, several companies in Britain, France, and other European countries manufactured Scoria, or Slag Glass, into vases and also included the glass in tiffany lamps.
Making a statement of both style and sustainability, your Scoria shard has been upcycled, using eco-friendly materials, including recycled sterling silver, so you can feel good knowing you are wearing eco-friendly jewellery. The setting was designed to celebrate the curves and angles of the Ironbridge.
This is the perfect jewellery gift for someone who wants to express their unique style and desire to take care of the environment. It would make a great 3rd or 6th Anniversary Gift.
Sizing: This ring is adjustable.
