I was so pleased to have spotted these fabric plates in a charity shop. So humorous and unusual, I had never seen anything like them before, (and I’ve seen a LOT of vintage embroideries!)

Circular shoulder bag in a vintage embroidery blue and white willow pattern plate design.
What an unusual find. Four little dinner plates, but each one embroidered to resemble the classic blue and white Willow Pattern plates of old. This is the third one that I have worked with, and it is also my third circular bag!
It is clear that this embroidery has been well used; the stitching is a little pulled, and some blue colour has softly bled into the white. For all that, it still has charm, and hopefully now, a practical use as well. It would make a great occasions or going out bag, or as a gift for a textiles lover.
The bag is circular with an 18cm diameter (i.e. across the widest point)
The back, sides and strap, are all made from washed recycled blue denim.
The depth all around is 5cm.
There is a blue denim shoulder strap measuring 96cm, so it just tucks under the arm, and is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
There is a 25cm blue zip fastening, with a denim flower head pull.
There is a cluster of 3 Mother of pearl buttons on the front.
The bag is lined with maroon Chinese silk.
Dry cleaning is recommended for this bag.
I like to reuse where possible. Your bag will arrive wrapped in clean, recycled packaging.
It will be posted out as signed for Royal Mail 2nd class, and hence will require a signature on arrival.
