Like Wales, West Cornwall also has a tradition of horse-skulled mast-beasts, that come out at special times of the year. Montol Festival, the Penzance midwinter festival, has a number of guise beasts who perform and dance around the streets and from pub to pub, this particular one being Pen Hood, constructed by Gemma Gary and Jane Cox.
Montol is the Cornish Midwinter Festival of Misrule, held on the 21st December. Pen Hood, Cornish for "Bewitched Head", is a spirit as old as time, and one of the most mischievous 'Obby 'Oss that you can meet. A Counterpart of Montol's other Oss, Kasek Nos, she assists in the choosing of the candidate who chalks the mock, that is drawing a stick figure on a Yule Log to cast into the flames of the midwinter fire. Watch your hats, pints and decorative foliage. Anything that isn't firmly attached is fair game to Pen Hood!

Full description
Water-based black, matte ink print on white 140gsm paper, hand-hand pressed with a spoon and touched up by hand also to give it a consistent tone all over, and hand coloured with acrylic ink.
(Watermark only included to protect the online image, the print will only have edition number, title if needed and it will be signed by myself.)
Size of the image is approx. 9 x 12.5 cm
Size of the mount is approx. 16.5 x 21 cm
Limited edition of 50 prints of this design in full colour, also available in black and white in an edition of 50 via the shop page. Delivered mounted and wrapped in cellophane.
All UK-bound items are sent 1st class delivery, signed for. Please contact me if you would prefer another method. All overseas-bound items are standard delivery, again, if you wish to have it tracked, please contact me and I will sort this out, please expect a higher postage cost for this.
To care for you print, please keep it out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
