Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
A pretty bowl of lovely roses has been drawn and stitched to form the design for this unique textile brooch.
Artists crayons were used to draw a simple floral design onto a scrap of fabric which was then ironed to remove excess colour and heat set the design. The design was enhanced with some very simple embroidery.
A fine sewing cotton has been used to blanket stitch around the edge of the brooch. The design has been finished with a coat of pva glue to seal the colour. The brooch is stiffened by a layer of fusible interfacing. The back of the brooch has been neatened by a backing of felt. A brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Width - 5 cm approx.
Items of embroidered jewellery may not be colourfast - care should be taken to remove them from clothing before washing.
Please note: items from Lynwoodcrafts are intended for adults. This item is unsuitable for children under 3 years of age since it contains small parts which may represent a choking hazard. This item is also unsuitable for older children as it contains a sharp pin.
I have been experimenting with various types of fabric paint, crayons and dyes. The results are lovely and brooches are produced a little more quickly than entirely hand-sticthed alternatives - allowing me to list these at a favourable price!
