Full description
As a child I loved reading The Secret Garden and this 'one-off' piece takes its inspiration from that classic tale and also from some of the lovely walled gardens we have locally. A mixture of applique and embroidery on a linen base, this picture would give any room a perpetual glimpse of summer. Entirely hand sewn, the Walled Garden is 'planted' with wisteria, geraniums, a climbing rose, foxgloves, clipped box ball (containing over 1000 stitches in eight different shades of green), iris, lavender, alchemilla mollis and a clump of 'Gran's Favourite' cottage pinks.
The pale grey mount and darker grey frame allow the colours to shine.
Dimensions (including frame) approximately 43.5 cm high x 32.8 cm wide.
Please note that this picture should be hung out of direct sunlight to avoid fading.
