This little bangle is pretty and fun to wear but would also look good with more formal attire. It is made by stitching around 4mm glass and pearly glass beads with tiny silver-lined seed beads. Thus the larger beads appear to be caught in a silver net. The seed beads are Miyuki, one of the most highly regarded makes on the market. The 4mm beads are in three colours: silver, silver-grey and blue-grey. The two ends of the bracelet have been stitched together. The join is invisible, giving a bangle that rolls easily over the hand – ideal for anyone who struggles with bracelet clasps or who has metal allergies. The bangle is slightly soft which helps it roll over the hand. It is made for a smaller hand and the internal circumference of the bangle is 18cms (7ins). The bangle is 0.9cms (0.35ins) thick. I take a size 7 glove (UK sizing) and it rolls over my hand easily but with little room to spare.
The bangle will be sent wrapped in acid-free tissue paper in a sturdy cardboard box.
I was originally inspired by the netted design after working through a tutorial from Cara Landry at Simple Bead Patterns, Dragonfly Lane. I experimented with colours and types of beads and also with whether the two ends of a project could be ‘zipped’ together. This was the result. Dragonfly Lane give permission for items inspired by their tutorials to be sold.
