This is the second piece I've made using clear crystal discs and lace, the previous one had a pencil drawing of a moon face under the quartz, I wanted to do one using just the lace behind the crystal. I love working with vintage lace. I've collected yards of it over the last few years, some older than others, I try to only buy lace made with cotton, although I've given in to man made fibres if it's pretty enough. These pieces grow as they are made, the way the beads wind around the lace is dictated by the patterns in the lace and what beads I have around at the time. I have some tiny, old seed pearls and there a few of those in here, along with some really old, tiny gold coloured beads, I suspect they might be 1920s vintage. It seems appropriate to use mostly old beads in these pieces to match with the lace.

Full description
Beautiful, delicate, vintage lace piece with beads and a quartz crystal disc. The necklace is made by applying beads to both edges of the lace, slightly gathering as the beads are stitched on, the crystal disc is attached with a hand stitched bead mount. At each end of the lace the necklace is completed with bead weaving. The beads are a mixture of vintage and modern beads. Then comes the fun part, I wind strings of beads around the lace, attaching it at each edge and randomly across the width. This further gathers the lace into loops and swags around the central crystal, along the lower edge of the crystal are 9 short strands of beads, each ending in a freshwater pearl, 8 white and one grey. The necklace is fastened with an old mother of pearl button and a loop of beads.
Because the crystal is completely clear, the lace can be seen behind it too.
A perfect romantic wedding piece, or just for any time when you want to wear something
lovely.
Measuring approximately 18", it would be possible to lengthen it slightly for a very small extra charge.
Utterly unique, the combination of vintage lace and vintage beads is irresistibly beautiful.
