Full description
Tranquil Beach is a piece of mounted textile art depicting waves breaking onto a sandy beach under a partly cloudy sky. The seascape piece is made from a variety of different fabrics. The sky is a piece of streaked fabric in pale shades of duck-egg blue and cream. The duck-egg blue and white sea consists of layers of different fabrics, along with crinkled yarn and lace. The sandy beach is made from cream fabric with a suede-like finish, and two strips of fabric with selvedge edges in taupe and golden-brown. I've added a starfish shell and a cluster of seed beads, along with some crumpled and frayed cream muslin and two coconut shell buttons. I've used free-motion embroidery to add some seagulls in the sky. The artwork is mounted on a square acid-free backing board, finished with a white aperture mount, and is ready to be framed. It is presented in a cellophane sleeve for protection.
This original textile artwork would make a lovely and unique gift for someone who loves the sea.

Mount - approx. 8 inches (20cm) square. Aperture/textile art – approx. 6 inches (15cm) square.
