This recent series of wall art has been inspired by the repeated patterns that can occur in all aspects of nature and plants whch I obsere throughout the year.
Colours, textures and light qaulity, provide endless inspiration as the seasons change and evolve.
Observing plants, nature and animal life in my immediate enviroment, I aim to evoke with my clay work the feeling that we are all linked.
This piece of wall art can brighten up a small indoor space, comes ready to hang and brings a bit of nature into your home.

Full description
This, leafy, terracotta wall art, is made upof five sqaures of printed and hand cut pieces of clay.
I select a collecton of plant materials from my garden before individually rolling these onto wet clay, sponging white liquid clay over the flattened surface, peeling off when dry, before the clay pieces recieve a first kiln firing.
Thin coats of naturally ocurring Iron and Manganese oxides, are applied, highlighting the individual lines and textures unique to that plant.
These are individually dipped into a clear glaze for a second firing, resulting in a smooth shiny surface, deepening the natural colours of the clay and stains.
The completed pieces are then mounted onto a painted , wooden frame, fitted with a hanging mechanism on the reverse.
This 'Patterns in Nature' wall art measures approx 30 cm by 9.5 cm and a thickness of 1cm.
