My background is in Graphic Design and although I'm now retired I still enjoy the creative process. A lot of my work features birds and flowers and I particularly love combining different materials and patterns to create colourful, one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces.

Full description
This mixed media picture would make a lovely original gift for a nature lover.
The background has been created by layering different fabrics, many of them batiks. I've also added a few pieces of decoupage paper to give a different texture. The tawny owl has been made by layering fabrics and decoupage papers. I've added details with embroidery threads and acrylic inks.
I've fussy cut some stylised bracken which I've coloured with inks and decorated with peach and copper coloured seed beads to add a bit of sparkle. I've also used metallic threads in the bracken and to add some tiny stars in the sky.
I've made a matching tag in case you're sending it as a gift.
The artwork is presented in a good quality double mount. The outer measurements are 8 x 6 inches and the inside aperture is 3.75 x 5.75 inches. It is titled and signed on reverse.
