Lapis Lazuli is the most popular alternative to Sapphire for the September and Virgo birthstone
Lapis Lazuli is an ancient rock, an aggregate of the minerals lazurite, calcite and pyrite.
It has been prized by human civilisations for over 6000 years.
Cleopatra famously used ground Lapis for her eye make-up and Renaissance artists made a costly pigment from it called 'ultramarine'- think of the blue headband worn by Vermeer's 'girl with a pearl earring'.
Baroque Pearls are non-symmetrical with surface irregularities. The ones I have used are a creamy-white colour with a lovely rainbow iridescence when they catch the light.
Pearls are thought to be a calming gem, and have long been associated with integrity, purity, loyalty and faith.
Pearl is the birthstone for June, Gemini and the stone for the 30th wedding anniversary.

Full description
Striking stretch bracelet featuring a 6x15mm Lapis Lazuli tube flanked on either side by a trio of sparkly Austrian 'denim' and 'blue shade' crystals ,highlighted with tiny 1.8mm gold vermeil spacers.
Alternating trios of, creamy-white freshwater baroque Pearls and 4mm Lapis Lazuli, separated by gold vermeil spacers, complete the circle.
The Lapis Lazuli beads are a beautiful midnight blue with flecks of golden pyrite that add a subtle glint.
The irregular freshwater baroque rice pearls have a lovely, creamy-white iridescence.
The crystals add a hint of sparkle.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a lovely birthday present, anniversary gift, or a treat for yourself.
This bracelet measures approximately 6.5 inches (16.5cm), perfect for a 6 inch (15cm) wrist. Please contact me via the button below my shop banner if you would like it smaller or larger.
Your bracelet will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
