Welcome to Janiemade and my little corner of Folksy where you can buy my crocheted creations. If you're looking for skilfully handmade gifts and home decor I hope you'll find something you love. I enjoy crocheting with natural fibres, mainly cotton, and many of my home decor items use recycled braided cotton cord or recycled cotton T shirt yarn. All items are ready to post and I only charge postage on your first item. Your order will be sent by the Royal Mail Tracked 48 service.

Whilst making a round basket I noticed that if I squashed the top edge together it had the right shape for a chicken - my chicken doorstop idea was hatched!
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

A doorstop with personality! Weighing in at over 1.2kg this funky chicken is both a useful and a quirky item of home decor.
Crocheted from recycled T shirt yarn the chicken is filled with kiln dried sand. This is encased in a plastic food bag inside a fabric bag with additional polyester stuffing to enhance the bird's shape. The beak and comb are made from recycled braided cord and the plastic domed button eyes are securely attached with strong thread.
Measurements: Approximately 20-24cm from beak to tail and 15-16cm tall, (no two chickens are alike due to the yarn used). Each chicken weighs at least 1.2kg.
Care instructions: Surface clean only with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water. For indoor use only.
The brown chicken is ready to post but the light grey chicken has been sold. I can make one to order but please note that this will take up to an additional 7 days from the order date.
Please note that the chicken doorstop is not a toy. The button eyes are carefully sewn on but could pose a choking hazard should they become detached.
