This piece was inspired by my preoccupation with the the plight of rainforests that are destroyed for the production of Palm Oil, so that the West has a cheap source of oil for its food, and beauty products.

Full description
This wall hanging incorporates free motion embroidery, hand stitching, appliqué and quilting. It is made on a base of Liberty Ianthe fabric onto which I have stitched patches of dyed silk, various cottons, lace, organza and other upcycled fabrics. I have also machine stitched into these fabrics, using both free machine stitch and set pattern stitches, to give an interesting and varied texture to the surface. I have used concentric circles of gold hand- dyed silk ribbon which I have stitched by hand. I have added padding of bubble wrap and plastic bags to areas of the whole piece,to create 3D relief, and backed it onto a piece of furnishing fabric to give it a good firm but flexible structure. There is doweling at the top and bottom so it keeps its shape when hung on the wall.
In size it is 33cm wide by 55cm long and hangs by means of D rings, sewn onto the back.
Postage is free in the UK and it will be well wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and sent in a padded envelope, and sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery .For overseas I will send tracked and signed with Royal Mail. I reuse packaging to reduce waste.
