Full description
Bookmark with countryside scene. This summery bookmark is made from a number of layers of different fabrics. The bookmark depicts pastures, meadows and fields, under a partly cloudy sky. I've used a pale blue and white abstract print fabric for the sky. The fields and pastures are made from a mixture of fabrics in various shades of green and pink. The frayed raw edges of some of the fabric, and the inclusion of some selvedge edges, give the impression of vegetation at the ends of the fields. On the hill in the background I've added a flock of tiny sheep, which I've hand embroidered with angora yarn. There are two dark green appliqué trees on the horizon. To the pasture in the foreground, I've added an appliqué, free-motion and hand embroidered sheep, along with some tiny French knot flowers in two pretty shades of pink. The bookmark is backed with pale green fabric with paler green flecks, edged with pale green zig-zag stitching, and stiffened with an inner layer of interfacing.
This lovely bookmark is a piece of original but affordable textile art. It would make an ideal gift for anyone who loves reading, and loves the British countryside.
