Full description

These super sparkly earrings feature triangular drops of fordite which has been bezel set in sterling silver and then finished with simple silver hooks. The fordite has concentric rings in sparkly shades of silver blue, dark grey and bright blue with a central red patch. The rings of colour are separated by fine lines of pale grey primer. The earrings measure approx 50mm from the top of the hook to the bottom by 16mm across, fordite is super light weight to wear. Comes gift boxed.

Fordite is the name given to many layers of cured car paint that builds up in spray booths at car factories. The paint gets baked hard in between each layer leading to a durable material that can be cut to show off the many colours. This particular material I bought from a guy who worked at Ford's Wayne Assembly plant and he had collected it from the production line in circa 2014 when they were making C-max and Focus. So if I'm going to be nerdy that's ice storm, blue candy, ruby red and sterling grey (ice storm was only used for a very limited time span allowing for fairly precise dating) . I cut this material myself so if you love fordite but want something else making drop me a message, I have quite a stash of rough from various eras and manufacturers.
