Welcome to my birding world of life-like wool-sculpted birds, where no detail is too small or feather too tiny for me to notice and recreate in fibre.
Hand-made using needlefelt techniques and incorporating ethically sourced natural materials, my birds, from their feathers to the plants that they are posed on, are made from plant and sheared animal fibres and reflect my values of sustainable making: re-use, recycle and compost back to nature.
Orders received from now and throughout Christmas will all be posted on the 2nd January 2025, so I can switch off and spend quality time with friends and family.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful festive season and see you next year!

I had been given some lovely pieces of wood by my woodturning brother living in Devon. Each piece had the moss still in place and each reminded me of the damp undergrowth below the hedge which so typifies the territory of the wren. So I took my time to make specifically posed wrens for each piece of wood, led by the angles of their legs as they met their soon to be perch.

Full description
Sympathetically handmade from natural sheared wool fibres of Corriedale, Merino and Shetland sheep and mounted on a natural plinth of ethically sourced Dartmoor bark, this cheeky one of a kind sculpted Wren is life-size, realistically patterned, and has all its flight feathers individually made by hand. This is a beguiling piece which comes alive with its sparkling eyes and head cocked as if you are both glimpsing each other by chance in the hedgerow.
A bird gift fit for any discerning birder, birdwatcher or lover of stunning garden birds in the UK and Europe, Wrens are sweet characterful little birds, who spend a lot of their time in low vegetation, catching your ear with their loud song and your eye with their perky short tail held upright. Carefully observed and patiently detailed to be true to life, this little bird is posed looking up at your directly, perfect to keep you or a loved one company on a desk or shelf in the shade of a potted plant, bird book or pair of binoculars.
Inspired by plant and bird illustrators of the past, I aim to be zoologically representative with all my bird sculptures and botanically precise with any plants included as part of their scenic mounts.
Dimensions including plinth: 14.5cms length x 9cms height x 4.5cms width
Presented in a reusable gift box, wrapped and carefully padded for posting using the Royal Mail 48hr tracked service for UK buyers.
