Full description
Countryside bookmark. This delightful countryside themed bookmark is made from a mixture of layered fabrics. The design features pastures and strips of fields, under a partly cloudy sky. The sky is made from pale blue and white abstract print fabric. The fields and pastures are made from a variety of fabrics in many shades of green and pink. I've made use of the frayed raw edges of some of the fabric, and also included some selvedge edges, to give the impression of vegetation at the field boundaries. The hill pasture in the background has a flock of tiny sheep, hand embroidered with angora yarn. I've added two dark green appliqué trees on the horizon. The foreground pasture has lots of tiny French knot flowers in two shades of pink. I’ve also added an appliqué, free-motion and hand embroidered sheep. The bookmark is backed with pale green fabric with paler green flecks, and is stiffened with an inner layer of interfacing, and edged with zig-zag stitching in pale green thread.
This delightful bookmark is a miniature piece of original but affordable textile art. It would make the perfect gift for anyone who loves reading, and loves the British countryside.
