Holly is such an iconic plant associated with Christmas, I love the deep glossy green leaves and the bright red berries which feed the hungry birds in winter.
I like to use a technique which involves scratching back the black pigment once it is applied, it gives the appearance of a Lino print and a sense of movement.
Evergreen plants such as Holly and Mistletoe make Christmas for me.

A festive stained glass 2D Holly Bauble for your Christmas tree, window, porch or neutral interior wall.
This unique hand painted holly decoration will welcome visitors to your house this Christmas.
Ideas for my designs are dictated by seasonal plants and the shape of the glass.
Sketches and watercolours made from observations develop into hand drawn patterns using shapes of foliage and berries.
Traditional stained glass painting techniques are employed, black pigment is used to trace the design onto the glass, which is then fired in the kiln to make it permanent.
Coloured enamels are then painted onto the glass and the piece is returned returned to the kiln to be fired a second time.
Each piece can return to the kiln several times until the desired effect is achieved, this is a time honoured procedure.
Copper foil is the attached to the edges of the glass and tinned and handmade copper wire hooks are added from which the piece can be hung.
Patina is applied to turn the soldered edges black, achieving the leaded glass look.
Every piece is signed and gift wrapped on dispatch, why not gift this unique piece or perhaps treat yourself.
Each piece of Vanessa Hall Glass is lovingly made from my garden workshop in Tiverton, Devon UK.
Solder contains Lead & Tin, wash hands after handling.
