I made a few leaves earlier last year and decided I needed to make more. It took a while to find a beech leaf small enough to make a pendant, and in good enough condition as it was late in the year. Luckily I live very close to a lovely park full of trees, so I managed to find one.
I find silver clay a magical material, a smear of gray stuff on a leaf eventually becomes this sparkling little pendant, it can be difficult to get the clay thick enough not to break, yet thin enough to look like the leaf.
I've had a few failures, but this one works well.

Full description
Pretty little pendant made by applying silver clay to a real beech leaf, the leaf burns away when the silver is fired, leaving a clear, perfect impression of itself. That sounds easier than it is but it's a simple description of the technique.
The leaf measures around 2cm from top to bottom and approx 1.5cm from side to side at the widest point. It hangs from a 45cm/18" recycled silver chain. To hang the pendant a length of recycled silver wire is soldered to the back, curved and looped at the top to represent the stem of the leaf.
This is a delicate little necklace, ideal as a gift for anyone who likes nature or maybe as a bridesmaid gift. Light and fragile in appearance, it sits just below the collar bone when worn.
Silver clay is made using recycled silver in a binding agent so is eco friendly from that point of view.
