Item details

To make this vase with all the stages involved takes will have taken 6+ hours. The stages: include preparation of the clay; rolling of the slab; creating the shape; bisque firing; pressing in the glass bead, glazing; and then the second firing. In addition to the costs of labour there are other overheads including the more obvious of the clay ie the glaze, beads and the two kiln firings. This is one in a series of pieces of work where I have experimented with different ways of fusing glass to clay. Other examples can be seen on my website, www.ceramics9.com
