This piece is inspired by my preoccupation with the destruction of rainforests in Indonesia and Malaysia. My longer term aim was for this to be one of three or four tapestries which show the drastic decline of rainforests over the last 40 years. The idea came from the image of the pie chart showing how little forest cover remains now. The weaving represents the tree canopy seen from above, woven in various shades of green and yellow and square of red earth with horizontal stripes which represent the cut down trees.

Full description

Forest Cover is a one of a kind tapestry weaving which has been handwoven with a mixture of wools in various shades of green, yellow, brown and red, including some of my own handspun merino wool. It is stitched onto a piece of linen mix fabric and framed in a simple black wooden box frame with no glass, which measures 24 x 24cm.

It will be well wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and posted with Royal Mail. Where possible I reuse packaging to reduce cost to the customer and to the environment.
